High bond reinforcing bars cut and bundled in a rebar workshop

Cut and bent rebar

Cut and bent rebar, made to order

Cutting, bending and tagging in our workshop to your reinforcement drawings. Your teams fix and tie — nothing is cut on site.

Rebar bent in a workshop arrives on site ready to fix: cut to length, bent to the correct radius, tagged with the right mark. What is left to do on site is placing and tying.

We work from your reinforcement drawings and bar bending schedule. Cutting is optimised across the whole order, which reduces waste to a level no site cutting can match.

What we fabricate

  • Straight cut bars — to length, all common diameters
  • Links and stirrups — beams and columns, right angle bends
  • U-bars and hairpins — shear reinforcement
  • Chairs and spacers — supporting the top mat in slabs
  • Starter bars — lap lengths to the drawing
  • Preassembled cages — columns, ground beams, piles
  • Welded mesh — standard sheets or cut to your layout

Our process, step by step

  1. Receipt of drawings and bar bending schedule
  2. Optimisation — cutting is calculated across the whole order to minimise waste
  3. Straightening from coil, or cutting from straight bar
  4. Cutting to length on the shear
  5. Bending — links, stirrups, hairpins, chairs
  6. Marking and tagging by element and by lot
  7. Cage assembly where the project calls for it
  8. Dimensional check, bundling and delivery

Bending radii: the rule you do not break

The bending mandrel has an imposed minimum diameter. Below it, the steel is excessively work hardened at the bend and starts to crack — exactly where the bar works hardest.

Minimum mandrel diameter
Bar diameterMinimum mandrelExample
Ø ≤ 16 mm4 ØA Ø 12 bar bends on a mandrel of at least 48 mm
Ø > 16 mm7 ØA Ø 20 bar bends on a mandrel of at least 140 mm

Minimum values for high bond bars to Eurocode 2. Particular details may require larger radii.

Grades and standards

GradeYield strengthReference
B500B500 MPaNM 01.4.096 / EN 10080 — high bond, ductility class B
B500A500 MPaEN 10080 — lower ductility, welded mesh

Welded mesh

Standard sheets of 6.00 × 2.40 m in the usual ST designations — ST10, ST20, ST25C, ST30C, ST50C, ST60 — supplied whole or cut to your layout. Cutting in the workshop again keeps the waste off your site.

Frequently asked questions

Cut and bent rebar: your questions

Why bend in a workshop rather than on site?
Three measurable gains. Offcuts disappear from your site, because cutting is optimised across the whole order rather than bar by bar. Site labour for fixing drops accordingly. And the bending radii are respected, which a hand bender on site cannot guarantee.
What diameters do you bend?
The usual high bond bar diameters, 6 to 40 mm. Commercial lengths are 12 m, sometimes 6 m. Beyond that, bars are lapped in accordance with the drawing.
What grade of steel do you use?
B500B, the reference grade for reinforced concrete in Morocco: 500 MPa yield, high bond, ductility class B. It complies with the Moroccan standard NM 01.4.096 and with EN 10080. The older designation Fe E500 refers to the same product.
Do you respect the standard bending radii?
Yes, that is the heart of the trade. The minimum mandrel is 4 diameters for bars up to 16 mm and 7 diameters above. Too tight a radius initiates cracking in the steel at the bend, exactly where the bar is most heavily stressed.
How is the rebar delivered?
In labelled bundles, tagged by element and by lot according to your bar bending schedule. Preassembled cages are delivered made up wherever transport allows.
